I created two papercraft models for the National Trust property A la Ronde in Devon, as well as an illustrated map for the visitor book.
The two models illustrate changes made to the property over its history. They are constructed from card and paper, with hand-finished illustrated details — one even has a tiny pearl at the very top, if you look closely! The models are displayed in the orientation room, the first room visitors enter when exploring the property.
A la Ronde is a remarkable place: a 16-sided house with an eight-sided interior and an extraordinary shell gallery at the top. It was built for two female cousins, Jane and Mary Parminter, and its history and wonderfully handcrafted interiors were a huge part of the inspiration for the project.
I also created a map for the visitor book, combining hand-drawn illustration with digital colouring.
Throughout both parts of the project, it was important to retain the handcrafted quality that makes A la Ronde so unique.
