I was commissioned to illustrate Evelyn Waugh’s Oxford by Dr Barbara Cooke, published by Bodleian Library Publishing.
The book explores Evelyn Waugh’s relationship with Oxford and the influence the city had on his life and work. I created a series of original hand-drawn illustrations depicting locations, buildings and details connected with Waugh’s time in the city, including Christ Church, the Oxford Union and many of his favourite Oxford haunts.
My illustrations appear throughout the book and form part of a specially commissioned illustrated trail through Waugh’s Oxford, bringing together architectural drawing and smaller observational details to help evoke the city Waugh knew.
Published in 2018, the book features my illustration credit on the cover and throughout the publication.
